Unbelievably Progressive Fitness is going to be 10 years old next week and that falls at the same time we opened The Unit 1 year ago. To celebrate both of these landmark birthdays we are having an open evening at The Unit.
We would love for you to join us for this occasion on Monday 26th September, 1800 – 2030 here at The Unit.
This event is free to attend, all you need to do is register your place online so we know how many people to plan for! Everyone who comes will be entered in to a draw to win membership at both The Unit and Boot Camp.
Come down and try out some challenges we will have set out such as Beat The Trainer, Yulia’s Yoga challenge and a #22 Press up challenge. Plus we will have Nurture Your Body giving out advice and 15 min massages to anyone who needs them. We will be raising money on the night for Combat Stress too so please bring any spare change you have for donations and for the silent auction! So just sign up today and let us you know you’re coming. If you need more persuading then there will be some bubbly after the challenges too…after all it is a celebration!

This is an event that is seriously taxing on the body all of our teams did amazingly well and I’m really proud of every single person who took part.

We had a mixed team of 8 Boot Campers and Unit members who all made a huge team effort of at least 3 x 5 mile laps each. I was in the men’s team with trainer Phil Mace, boot campers and unit members all did amazingly well. Bearing in mind that we are not a running club and focus on all elements of fitness we ended up coming 7th out of 33 teams – and we weren’t being competitive!
The ladies team of 5 each putting in 30 miles each were awesome coming 8th. Three lady solo runners all covered over 40 miles.
Well done to all who took part.
Here’s some of my favorite equipment from the Unit. I expect you’ve seen some of it before but Maybe you’ve not used it or been shown how to use it. Over the next few days I will show you some of my favorite exercises on each of them and see what you think.

Meet Elona, one of our clients at The Progressive Fitness Unit. She struggled to get child care today for her PT session. Rather than cancel we told her to bring Zander along and see how it went with him there. He actually laughed at her a few times and I got a workout swinging him in that chair!
My point? No excuses here at the Unit. We would rather our clients train than miss a session to reasons like this. Time is precious especially to parents with young kids.

I will draw your eye to our festive work out at 7pm on Wednesday 23rd December, we hope you can join us for the class followed by healthy Christmas drinks and nibbles.
Also on Saturday 2nd January we will be holding a Friends and Family session at 9am. Start the New Year off with a bang and get your loved ones involved too (for free!)
In January we will be launching our fitness test which will occur every 8 weeks. Our first one is on 9th January 8am – 10am (replacing Boxing).
In January we will be starting our fitness testing programme. Every 8 weeks you are invited to join us at The Unit to track and record your progress. Beginning the morning with your health assessments, you will then move on to complete a number of our standard fitness tests, before finishing with a timed, measured run.
Testing is really important so that you can see the real improvements you are making to your health and well being by committing to a fitness and diet regime. Equally if you’re not seeing the results you want to, we can work with you to tweak your programme to get you back on track.
Our first fitness test is on Saturday 9th January so get your New Year off to a bang and join us. Friends and family are welcome to join you and see what you’ve been up to!
As we get nearer to our Opening Day event on 26th September, we are enjoying putting all the finishing touches in place at the gym. This week a friend of ours, Tom Baker, visited The Unit to spray us an amazing mural. He took our vague concept and created this fantastic design for us.
Watching him turn it in to the work of art that it is, was a special experience. It really has personalised our venue and hopefully some of the words will inspire our clients to keep going when training gets tough. The picture incorporates two of the exercises that we hope people will be able to achieve with us – pull ups and good boxing form!
